Fluids - 185

Information on the restrictions that apply to baggage and hand luggage

butelkiUnder the new EU law passenger may carry to the restricted area of the airport and on board an aircraft liquids, aerosols and gels in containers with a capacity of more than 100 ml. on condition that all the containers  will be subject to security checks using equipment or methods to detect liquid explosives .

At present, none of the Polish airports has facilities enabling the control of fluids for the detection of liquid explosives.

However airports in other EU countries may already have the appropriate equipment for the screening of liquids, and therefore, the restrictions on the carriage of liquids may not apply. Taking this into account, we encourage to search for relevant information on the websites of the airports from which you intend to travel.

In accordance with Regulation (EC) 185/2010 of 4 March laying down detailed measures for the implementation of the common basic standards on aviation security  passengers departing at Polish airports have the right to import liquids, aerosols and gels that :

Liquids include: gels, pastes, lotions, liquid / solid mixtures and the contents of pressurized containers, eg toothpaste, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, deodorant, shaving foam, aerosols and other items of similar consistency.

Bags with a capacity of one liter, referred to above can usually be obtained at the airport. Please ask for them at check-in desks.
During the screening, passenger shall submit to a separate control all liquids, aerosols and gels in individual containers with a capacity not greater than 100 milliliters or equivalent, and contained in one transparent resealable plastic bag with a capacity not exceeding 1 liter, whereby the content of the plastic bag fit in it and the bag is completely closed.

Traveling from the airport outside the EU with a change in EU airports - transport of liquids purchased outside EU.

If you are traveling from an airport located outside the EU and wish to purchase liquids in their duty free zone (operational), we advise you to make sure that they are properly packed in a bag which displays any attempts of opening and the passenger could show the satisfactory proof of purchase at that airport in the past 36 hours.
