On September 28, 2013 in Montreal took place the lunch organized by the Polish delegation during the 38th Session of the ICAO Assembly. The event was hosted by Mr. Piotr Ołowski - President of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Poland. Mr. President gave an opening speech and warmly welcomed on behalf of the Minister of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy numerous distinguished guests from all over the world. During lunch, the Civil Aviation Authority had the opportunity to present Poland and Polish achievements in the field of civil aviation. Traditional lunch is organized by one of the Member States for delegates of other 190 Member States during the Session of the ICAO Assembly. Among the invited guests were the Secretary General of ICAO - Mr. Raymond Benjamin, the President of ICAO Council - Mr. Roberto Kobeh González, and Directors General of Civil Aviation, including Mr. Catalin Radu - President of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC ) and simultaneously Director General of Civil Aviation of Romania.
During the meeting, there has been shown the film about Poland "Poland from the bird's eye view ". There were available brochures which contained the most important information about the country. The invited guests were able to learn about interesting Polish aviation projects. There was presented the model of designed and produced by the Polish company first Polish business jetliner - Flaris LAR 1, which was shown for the first time in June during the 50th Paris Air Show at Le Bourget Airport in Paris. During the lunch guest could take the brochures on Polish start in the elections to the Council of ICAO on behalf of CERG ( Central European Rotation Group) and the Polish candidate - Ms. Małgorzata Polkowska, Ph.D. During the lunch, the Polish folk dance group gave an astonishing performance.
There are already known results of elections to the ICAO Council from two of the three groups. The election of the third group, will be held on October 1. The win in the election would be historical success for Poland and would allow to represent the country in the ICAO Council for the period of three years.
