Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of aviation between Visegrad Group (V4)

Between 3 and 4 December, 2013 in Budapest was held a meeting of the Visegrad Group (V4) in the field of civil aviation. On the second day of the meeting the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the countries of the Group, which includes Republic of Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. Countries were represented by Aviation Authorities delegations, including the Polish delegation of Civil Aviation Authority.

The document was signed by the Director General of Civil Aviation of Slovakia - Mr. Ján Breja, Director General of Civil Aviation of Hungary - Mr. András Farkas, Director General of the Czech Republic – Mr. Josef Rada and Deputy Director of the Safety Management Bureau – Mr. Marcin Szczygieł on behalf of the President of the Civil Aviation Authority.

The Memorandum aims to expand cooperation between the Members of the Visegrad Group in the field of civil aviation. Covenant signatories expressed their willingness to strengthen cooperation in order to enhance further development of aviation and to achieve common goals. The parties have pledged to consultation between States in order to implement the provisions of ICAO and EASA in the field, among others: flight crew licensing, air operations, air traffic management and continuous monitoring approach. In addition, parties of the Memorandum are committed to share the achievements of the improvement of safety in aviation.

Signing the Memorandum of Understanding is an important event that will allow for better representation the interests of the States of the Central Europe Region in the international arena.
