On 12 December the 141th Meeting of Directors General of Civil Aviation was held in Paris. The participants were the Directors Generals from ECAC Member States. The meeting was attended by President of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Poland – Mr. Piotr Ołowski. At the opening of the Meeting, Director General of ACI World – Ms. Angela Gittensaddress Directors General on challenges facing airports and seized this opportunity to give a presentation of the ACI-World APEX (AirportExcellence in Safety) Programme. The Programme provides assistance for ACI members to improve their level of safety and compliance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices.
After the lecture, the reports on the ECAC activities were presented. President of ECAC – Mr. Catalin Radu reported on his activities since DGCA/62(SP) and the Secretary Executive – Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano presented the Report on Secretariat activities and implementation of the tasks on the “Action List”.
The Participants of the meeting discussed also the outcomes of the 38th Session of ICAO Assembly with particular reference to main outcomes of the elections to ICAO Council, review of Europe’s achievements and European coordination during the Assembly. Later the recent and forthcoming business of ICAO were presented by Norwegian Permanent Representative to the Council, who also thanked Polish Permament Representative on the ICAO Council - Dr. Małgorzata Polwkoska for chairmanship at the EU Cooridnation Meetings during the ICAO Council Session on behalf of Lithuania, which has been holding the 6-month Presidency of the Council of the European Union since July 2013. The European Commission representative reported on current EC initiatives. The participants elected one Co-ordination Committee member in order to fill the vacancy left by the departure of Mr. Jonathan Moor. The new member became Ms. Patricia Hayes.
Moreover the participants discussed several documents regarding safety, security and facilitation, environmental protection and air navigation.
