The EU-ASEAN Aviation Summit takes place in Singapore on 11-12 February. The Summit is jointly organized by the European Commission and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The aim of the event is to increase the technical, political and industrial co-operation between regions.
The developing air transport market is crucial both for the EU and ASEAN. The statistics of air traffic shows that the market has been growing in recent years and over the last 15 years has doubled to more than 10 million passengers in 2012. During the meeting, the participants will discuss the issues regarding EU and ASEAN experiences in integrating markets, removing barriers and regulating air transport, market outlook and business opportunities, aviation safety, challenges and opportunities of air traffic management and airports. The both sides will also focus on prospects for further EU-ASEAN co-operation.
The Summit will be attended by nearly 150 European representatives from airlines, airports, aerospace industries, service providers, national governments, the European Commission and all key European agencies in the field of aviation.
The summit is organized in parallel to Singapore Airshow 2014 is being held from 11 to 16 February.
