The Evidence-Based Training (EBT) Symposium in Helsinki

On 11 February 2014 in Helsinki the Symposium organized by the Finnish Transport Safety Agency (Trafi) concerning the Evidence Based Training (EBT) project was held. The meeting was attended by experts of pilot training including instructors, training managers, ATO managers, airline flight operation and safety managers, and a representative of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Mr. George Rebener. The Civil Aviation Authority was represented by an employee of the Flight Operation Department.

During the meeting, among others, the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding the implementation of EBT have been discussed. The practical dimension of experience in this field have been presented. Symposium contributed to the exchange of knowledge and experiences among experts in the field of pilot training and personnel from air carriers, responsible for flight training and safety.

EBT Project is a global initiative on safety, which concerns recurrent and type-rating training.
