Workshop on European air traffic management system (SESAR ) in Rzeszów

On 4 February 2014 at Rzeszów University of Technology was held the Workshop “SESAR Joint Undertaking - how to develop the new generation European air traffic management system in the Horizon 2020?” The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development together with SESAR Joint Undertaking and Rzeszów University of Technology. The Workshop was attended by experts in the field of air traffic management system, representatives of scientific institutions and the aviation industry from the region of Central and Eastern Europe and the representatives of the Civil Aviation Authority, including the President of the CAA - Mr. Piotr Ołowski.

The aim of the workshop is to prepare businesses and research centers in the region to effectively administer the SESAR Joint Undertaking (in the form of membership, the association of the SESAR JU or the status of a consultant or supplier).

The meeting was opened by the Director of the Aviation Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development - Mr. Marek Kachaniak. During the opening of the workshop Rector of the Rzeszów University of Technology prof. dr hab. inż. Marek Orkisz, the Subcarpathian voivodship Marshal Mr. Władysław Ortyl and Executive Director of the SESAR JU Mr. Claude Chêne made their  speech.

During the workshop was presented a plan for development of the SJU in time horizon of 2020. The SESAR programme until 2020 was presented by Mr. Carlo Borghini , SESAR Deputy Executive Director for Administration and Finance. Later in the meeting was presented the role of EUROCONTROL in SJU and its future role in the horizon of 2020, Mr. Maciej Rodak, Advisor of the President of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency presented the participants with PANSA opportunities in the field of SESAR activity.  Mr. Dariusz Wojtasik, Head of Air Navigation Research and Standards Division in Civil Aviation Authority gave a speech "SESAR from the perspective of the national civil aviation authority." Mr. Carlo Borghini in his speech presented opportunities for cooperation between SESAR and partners in Central and Eastern Europe .

In the second part of the workshop were held two working panels. The first panel: "Science" was moderated by Deputy Director of Operations - Head of Technology and Innovation SESAR Mr. Peter Hotham and dr inż. Andrzej Majka, Rzeszów University of Technology. The second panel was devoted to the “Industry”, - Air Navigation Services Providers, Airports and Airlines and was moderated by Mr. Carlo Borghini and Mr. Maciej Rodak.
