On 15 May 2014 at the Łazarski University the Conference on Civil Aviation Safety was held. It was the first part of the annual conference organized by the Civil Aviation Authority, which concerned the safety issues in commercial air transportation. The second part of the conference on safety in the general aviation (GA) will be held on 17 June 2014. The Conference was attended by the representatives of the aviation industry, Polish air operators, flight training organizations and other aviation entities.
The conference was opened by the acting as a Vice President for Aviation Standards Mr Maciej Kozłowski, who thanked the participants of the Conference for the participation. In the first panel, Mr Piotr Michalak, the Focal Point for Safety Management, Civil Aviation Authority had a presentation on "Safety Management Systems (SMS ) in the framework of the National Programme for Civil Aviation Safety". After the speech participants could raise questions.
The next speakers were Dr. Anna Konert and Dr. Małgorzata Rycak who outlined the issues related to the impact of the working time regulations on the safety of flights. At the end of the first panel, Expert on Emergency Response Planning, CAA, Mr Dariusz Sarnociński presented the functioning of the Emergency Response Plans (ERP) in aviation.
The second panel was opened by the President of the Civil Aviation Authority Mr Piotr Ołowski, who presented few latest initiatives in the field of safety management which have been taken by the CAA: proposal to create the European Database in the Scope of Flight Data Monitoring (FDM), which was presented at the EASA Management Board meeting, the organization of the second workshop for prosecutors on Just Culture and the reactivation of the Team, whose aim is to prepare revised draft of the National Security Program in Civil Aviation. In the second panel the Chairman of the State Commission on Aircraft Accident Investigation (PKBWL) Dr Maciej Lasek and the Commission members: Mr Bogdan Fydrych and Wiesław Jedynak presented the safety events which have occurred in the CAT in the operational area and air navigation.
