Civil Aviation Authority announces that the statistics and analysis of air transport for the fourth quarter of 2014 have been published. In the 4th quarter the market was observed with continuation of positive trends from the previous periods. In the last months of the year there were increased number of passengers and load factor. Both of these indicators also rose together throughout 2014 and Polish airports served just over 27 million passengers. Thus it is 8.3% more compared to 2013.
The Polish market also usually has noted better results from the European and world markets. The great results were accompanied by significant changes that concerned both freight and participation of individual carriers in the market and connections conducted by them. In 2014 there has been virtually no change in the structure of market share due to the air carrier business model, although network carriers developed more dynamically than their low-cost competitors. The shape of the connection network in 2014 was significantly influenced by the low cost carriers.
2014 years also brought a record breaking results within the charter market, which increased by over 23%. This high growth was stimulated by the transport to the Mediterranean region. It should be noted that after a long period of decline, transportation to Egypt has increased significantly. On the Polish market, a long-haul charter market has been developing more and more dynamically. The low cost carriers also operates more willingly within their network on a typical holiday directions.
