On June 9, 2015 at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) in Montreal the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between ICAO and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling of University of Warsaw (ICM), on the implementation of the joint project of the Global System Diagnosis Carriage by Air took place. The signatories of the agreement were Dr. Marek Niezgódka - Director of ICM and Raymont Benjamin - Secretary General of ICAO. The ceremony was also attended by Polish Permanent Representative to the Council of ICAO - Dr. Margaret Polkowska.
During the ICAO Council meeting "State of the Industry", Dr. Marek Niezgódka and Dr. Jan Malawko presented the concept of a joint project with the ICAO, whose main elements were the diagnosis of supply and demand, network connections and aircraft fleet of within the Global Air Transport System. It was the first of this kind in the history presentation of Poland at the Council of ICAO.
In addition, representatives of ICM conducted a special session for representatives of the European Union accredited at ICAO, during which they presented a multilayered system of high-resolution defining the availability and magnitude of the impact of air transport with the use of configurable network of airports European Union developed by ICM.
ICAO is a specialized agency of the UN which aim is to set global standards and recommended practices for civil aviation which are basis for developing national legislative regimes governing the functioning of civil aviation. ICAO brings together 191 Member States, publishes standards and recommended practices, based on which the thousands of civilian flights are carried out per day.
