It was the first of this kind in the history presentation of Poland at the Council of ICAO.
On the 15th and 16th of June guests from Rzeszow University of Technology Department of Management and Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics visited the headquarters of International Civil Aviation Organisation and Polish Delegation Office. They had an opportunity to visit the exhibition founded by Polish Delegation showing Warsaw Convention and its significance as well as the other donation to ICAO which was made by our country - model of Flaris Lar 1 aircraft. Additionally, guests visited the ICAO museum which shows the history of Organisation as well as Assembly Hall and Council Chamber. At the end of the day the meeting with President of ICAO Council, dr Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, took place. Furthermore, visitors visited the ETS University and Institute of Air and Space Law of McGill University. Afterwards, guests went to Wanda Stachiewicz Polish Library at McGill University. This place has a wide collection of polish books from various disciplines and hosted inter alia people like Lech Walesa and Pope John Paul II.
In the spirit of young-oriented approach in ICAO and outcomes of the Next Generation Aviation Professional Symposium, Polish Delegation decided to give opportunity to young students interested in aviation industry and organized two internships. Two young, ambitious interns were able to help in Polish Delegation Office during 205th Session of ICAO Council. Alicja Gajewska and Przemysław Kornas had an opportunity to participate in informal briefings, observe the preparation of documents for the Council and how does the daily work of international organization look like. Our two interns along with the permanent representative on the ICAO Council Dr. Malgorzata Polkowska organized a meeting for young aviation professionals. That was a great opportunity to make new contacts and get to know different perceptions on aviation industry. The initiative which took place was positively recognized by students and graduates representing various aviation specializations. Guests from United States, Colombia, Lebanon, Canada as well as various ICAO departments were able to taste traditional polish sweets. We hope that the experience of this event will facilitate the future cooperation between the students.
Lately the book „ICAO States Today- 70 Years After Chicago” was published. It is an honour for Poland to be featured in it especially due to the fact that our country was elected to ICAO Council for 2013-2016 for the first time. It is an album which in a concise way presents information about 191 Member States: relationship with International Civil Aviation Organisation, historic note, interesting facts, achievements and challenges for each country. Publication is also made for industry associations and other aviation stakeholders which are willing to highlight their strategies, successes or express their perception on aviation trade. Moreover, messages and interviews with worldwide leaders of air transport are included. The book was published due to the 70th anniversary of Chicago Convention.
Page dedicated to Poland is assigned to the region of Europe and the North Atlantic. It is stated there, among others that our Country was one of the first which signed the Chicago Convention. Additionally, the content provides facts about cargo, airports and Polish sportsmen in aviation disciplines.
