34th Plenary Session of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC)

From 30 June to 1 July 2015 in the European Parliament building in Strasbourg took place the 34th plenary session of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), which was attended by the President of the CAA Mr. Piotr Olowski.

The theme of the first day of the meeting was the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the organization, during which the Directors General of Civil Aviation and representatives of aviation and aerospace industry in Europe and the world shared their thoughts on the European contribution to the development of civil aviation and achievements of ECAC since the inception of the organization. The second day of the meeting was devoted to the administrative matters. Among documents adopted were the budget of the organization and ECAC work program for the years 2016-2018. During the meeting, there was also the ceremonial signing of the Cooperation Agreement with Malaysia. An important point on the agenda was the election of the chairman, vice-chairmen and members of the Coordination Committee, which is the governing body of the organization. Among the candidates nominated and elected as the member of the Committee was the representative of CERG Mr. Mario Nemeth (Director General of Civil Aviation Slovakia).

European Civil Aviation Conference was established by the ICAO Council Resolution 1953, confirming their intention to cooperate with the Council of Europe on the establishment of a European civil aviation organization. The inaugural ECAC session was held in Strasbourg in 1955 with the participation of 19 Member States. Currently, sessions are convened every three years. Today, the organization has 44 members, making it Europe's largest aviation organization that cares about the safe development of European aviation. ECAC also organizes the regular meetings of the Directors General of ECAC, during which directors general discuss specific issues related to the European and global aviation and take key decisions to ensure unified European position.

ECAC has become a model regional organization, on the basis of which they were created associating sister organizations in Latin America and Arab and African countries.
