International Meeting of Experts on Aviation Market Perspectives in Warsaw

On July 9, 2013, at Civil Aviation Authority in Warsaw the international meeting of experts - "Air Transport Market Perspectives in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe was held. The meeting was organised to present the perspectives of the air transport market in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. On the special invitation of the President of the Civil Aviation Authority Mr. Peter Ołowski, meeting was attended by the President of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) and the Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Romania - Mr. Catalin Radu, Director General of the CAA of Austria - Mrs. Silvia Gehrer and Hungary - Ms. Ildikó Szakmáry. In addition, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of Transport of Czech Republic, Croatia, Austria, Bulgaria and experts of the European Commission and the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency. After the opening of the conference by Mr. President Piotr Ołowski, Mr. Paweł Zagrajek - Head of the Department of Statistics and Analysis of the CAA gave a presentation on the development of air traffic market in the countries of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. Then his speech on "Prospects for air transport in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe" was delivered by an expert of the European Commission - Mr. Mate Gergely. Next speaker - Mr. Ulrich Schulte-Strathaus outlined recent developments in European aviation.

Later in the meeting Maciej Rodak - Vice President of PANSA for Air Navigation Services gave a presentation on the Functional Airspace Blocks including the Baltic FAB, Danube FAB and FAB CE. He pointed out the need to centralize the system and the implementation of SESAR and SES II +, which will result in increased security and more efficient air traffic management. Then Mrs. Verena Brendl - representative of the Ministry of Transport of Austria, gave the speech which indicated the priorities and challenges for the Austrian Aviation Authority. The last speaker was Mr. Paul Dudzic, acting as a Chief of Air Freight Division, who presented the issues of the allocation of limited traffic rights.

The conference identified the need for the smooth and effective communication at expert level between the aviation authorities. It was decided to designate one contact person from each CAA the so-called "focal point", which will be responsible for communication between experts.

President of the CAA, Piotr Ołowski proposed to coordinate the list of "focal points", and assured the visitors of readiness to host the next meeting of experts in Warsaw.
