Please be advised that Council Regulation (EU) 2022/334 of 28 February 2022, on the basis of which aircraft and air carriers of the Russian Federation are banned from flying in the European Union, provides for exceptions to this ban.
The exceptions are:
- flights with HUM, SAR status
- Return flights of leased aircraft, for which the consent of the relevant European aviation authorities has been given,
- emergency landings or emergency overflights.
Pursuant to the Regulation, the competent authorities may permit a Russian aircraft to land in, take off from or overfly the territory of the European Union, provided that these competent authorities have previously determined that such landing, take-off or overflight is necessary for humanitarian or any other reasons consistent with the objectives of this Regulation.
