On 15 May 2014 Mr Piotr Ołowski, President of the Civil Aviation Authority visited Poznan Airport in Ławica. During the visit, he visited, among others, the expanded passenger terminal and participated in a meeting with the Board.

On 15 and 16 May 2014 at the Łazarski University the Workshop on the provisions of Commission Regulation (EU ) No 965/2012 relating to commercial air transport airplanes and helicopters (CAT - Part- ARO , ORO , CAT and SPA) and the limitations of flight and duty time (FTL) was held. The Workshop was organized by the President of the Civil Aviation Authority and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

On 15 May 2014 at the Łazarski University the Conference on Civil Aviation Safety was held. It was the first part of the annual conference organized by the Civil Aviation Authority, which concerned the safety issues in commercial air transportation. The second part of the conference on safety in the general aviation (GA) will be held on 17 June 2014. The Conference was attended by the representatives of the aviation industry, Polish air operators, flight training organizations and other aviation entities.

On 6 May 2014 in Paris the 142nd Meeting of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) organized by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) was held. The meeting was attended by Mr Piotr Ołowski, President of the Civil Aviation Authority.

On 28 April 2014 in Montreal began the Committee Phase of the 202. Session of the Council of International Civil Aviation Organization which ended on 16 May 2014. The meetings were participated by a Polish representative. Prior to the commencement of the Committee Phase important meetings, including the meeting of the Environmental Advisory Group (EAG) were also held.

Civil Aviation Authority informs that European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), ICAO and EUROCONTROL Network Manager strongly recommend airspace users to avoid specific airspace and circumnavigate Simferopol FIR using available alternative routings due to the unsafe situation where more than one ATS provider may be controlling flights within the same airspace.

In the period from 26 March to 4 April 2014, at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Montreal was held the Diplomatic Conference. The main purpose of convening a Diplomatic Conference by the Council of ICAO was the modernization of the Tokyo Convention on Offences and certain other Acts Committed on Board Aircraft signed on 14 September 1963 in Tokyo (Journal of Laws of 1971 No. 15, item. 147). Poland on this highly important event have been represented by Dr. Małgorzata Polkowska - Polish Permanent Representative on the Council of ICAO and Mr. Piotr Rychlik - Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.

2014 promises to be very interesting. It will bring us not only a lot of sport emotions, because of air sport events which will be held in Poland - such as the Red Bull Air Race World Championship in Gdynia or 33rd Gliding Championships in Leszno, but also many anniversaries. 2014 gives us a lot to celbrate. On 1 January passed 100 anniversary of pioneering commercial flight, which in 1914 was commenced by Percival Fansler airline (USA) on the route from St. Petersburg to Tampa. In connection with such a wonderful anniversary - The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has invited everyone with an interest in aviation to join a year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary and take part in a conversation about what needs to happen to make the next 100 years even more momentous.

On 9 December, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has published guidelines that extend the ability to use personal electronic devices (PED) such as tablets, smartphones, e-book readers, MP3 players during all phases of flight. Devices should remain in the so-called "Airplane" or “Offline" mode. Each airline will be able to follow the guidelines and change their rules and policy.
